Deliverance Church International – Ongata Rongai

Prayer and Intercession Ministry

"Elijah was a human being, even as we are. He prayed earnestly that it would not rain, and it did not rain on the land for three and a half years. Again he prayed, and the heavens gave rain, and the earth produced its crops."
JAMES 5:17-18

Deliverance Church Ongata Rongai (DCOR) began on a foundation of prayer. The leadership of DCOR is devoted to prayer, and they make prayer a priority in every activity at the Church. We are a praying Church.

When you come to our Church you will find that we emphasise Mathew 21:13 (NIV) where Jesus said, “My house will be called a house of prayer”.

Jesus again stressed the importance of prayer in Luke 18:1

“Then Jesus told his disciples a parable to show them that they should always pray and not give up.”
Luke 18:1 (NIV)

Responsibilities of the ministry

The Prayer Ministry at DCOR is charged with the responsibility of:

  • Teaching people how to pray.
  • Praying for the local Church.
  • Praying for the sick.
  • Praying for the needs of the people.
  • Praying for the Church members and their families.
  • Praying for the body of Christ.
  • Praying for the Ong’ata Rongai community.
  • Praying for the nation.

  • We also intercede for any other burden the Lord lays on our hearts.

We have been involved in prayer for many years and we encourage Church members to be consistent and persistent in prayer as individuals and as families.

We have prayer meetings during the weekdays, from Monday to Friday, from 5:00 p.m. to 6:30 p.m., and again on Sunday morning at 6:30 a.m. We also have overnight prayers every 2nd Friday of the month from 9:30 p.m. to 5:00 a.m.

As a Church, we also partner with other Churches to make intercession for our nation. We partner with groups like the Christian Prayer Network (CPN), an organization that has been praying for this nation for many years, and we receive weekly prayer guidelines from CPN, which we incorporate into our prayers every day.

We also hold prayer drives to Nairobi and its environs to intercede for our nation as we drive around important government buildings and institutions.

We encourage every believer to pray because it is only through prayer that we are able to connect to our God and get Him involved in our lives
